"Silver Lining" a music album of Dikyi Ukyab, was jointly released Sunday by comedian Madan Krishna Shrestha, musician Nhyoo Bajracharya, singers Yogeshwor Amatya and Sukmit Gurung and lyricist Durga Lal Shrestha at a function here.
The album that is a fusion of folk and modern song consists of eight songs in total. Two of them are English. Lyricist Durga Lal Shrestha said, "There should be a musical harmony of "Sur and Tal" and Dikyi has a potential to maintain the two basic things of music."
All of the Nepalese numbers are penned by Shrestha and composed by musician Nyhoo Bajracharya. Dikyi herself has created and composed the two English songs.
'Jaun', 'Ke Bhaye Ko', 'Ayera', 'Silver Lining', 'Ukalo Uralo', 'Maya Deu', 'Kunai Pani' and 'Demise' are included in the album. All songs are recorded at Doremi Studio, Jamal.
Singer Ukyab lives in New York, USA. Her father Tenzing Ujyab is from Olangchungola (Walung), Taplejung and her mother Basants Pakhrin hails from Bhojpur. They run a family business of handicrafts from Nepal and India in Manhattan and are also partners of Himalayan Yak Restaurant, a cultural heaven located in the historical district of Jackson Heights, New York.
A fan of Adele, John Mayer and Lady Gaga, Dikyi is a student of political science at Suny Purchase. Beside that she's student of music too. She grew up in Nepal and New York, studying both here as well as in New York. She has studied in Rato Bangala during her elementary schooling.
